The rain and strong winds caused by the Nelson Depression caused numerous events and conditions in Portugal and the islands.
Civil Defense recorded 598 incidents between midnight and 7pm this Thursday, with more than 800 firefighters on the scene. They respond to falling trees and buildings, as well as flooding.
Incidents mainly occurred on the north and central coast, with the worst-hit subregions being Greater Lisbon and Algarve, which suffered more rainfall and strong winds later in the day, as well as Leziria do Tejo.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, rain will continue until Easter Sunday. Snowfall, strong winds and rough seas are expected in some regions.
