Chega wants to “defeat the PS” in the elections, which will be the “first step” to the next legislative elections.

Chega leader Andre Ventura set a goal on Tuesday to “defeat the PS” in the European elections on June 9 and considered the elections to be a “first step” towards the next legislative elections.

On Tuesday, Chega held a rally in Santo Estevan, in the municipality of Tavira (Faro district), at which the leader of the list, António Tangier Correa, who remained in Lisbon to participate in the televised debate between the party candidates, did not show up to participate with his parliamentary mandate.

Almost as the debate began, the Chegi president spoke about the PS candidate, former Health Minister Marta Temido, saying that she would “cover her face in shame” if she chose the leader of the list, someone “responsible for the chaotic state of health for which The Algarve is so important.”

“If Marta Temido had any shame, she, who left the ministry because another person died at the gates of the NHS, would not have represented herself in this election. But they represent it, and we have to beat them,” said Andre Ventura.

“We must defeat the PS in these European elections, it is a symbol of everything we are fighting against,” he insisted, leaving a message: “I ask you not to sit at home, do not believe that these elections are less important, because they will be the first step on our way to victory in the legislative session.”

Taking advantage of Chega’s location in the Algarve, a region in which Chega was the party with the most votes in the last legislative elections, André Ventura rejected the idea that the result was an “epiphenomenon, a local phenomenon” and considered that The party must demonstrate this as it seeks victory in the European Parliament elections on June 9.

“Our rise in the last election on March 10 was a prelude to what would become our legislative victory. What we need is that before we win the legislative elections, which will happen sooner or later, we have to win the European elections.”

Criticizing political commentators, Andre Ventura advised those present not to worry “about what they say on television and in columns that they write in newspapers that no one reads anymore.”

“Now we understand that they are all bribed by the PS and SDP. If that’s the case, we just have to keep going until we win this election,” he said.

President Chegi then criticized the government, considering it “a disappointment.”

Speaking about the agreement signed with Ukraine on the day of President Zelensky’s stay in Lisbon, Andre Ventura said that “the government once did this with great pomp and circumstance, an agreement worth 126 million euros to support Ukraine, when it had already committed about 100 million Euro”. euros a few months ago.”

“It’s not much different from what they did with the financial shock. There was going to be a big financial shock, we were all going to feel it, and then that financial shock was two cups of coffee that we felt on our paychecks.” , he criticized.

Ventura also took the opportunity to leave a message for the Prime Minister and the PSD leader.

“Just as we do not give up in the fight against corruption, we are not afraid of blackmail, the thought that we will be punished, the thought that we can unite with others to approve measures against the government,” he assured.

“Dr. Luis Montenegro, never forget this, this party may have moments of victory and defeat, but under no circumstances will we overcome our principles and that is how we go about winning these elections,” he added.

President Chega also returned to the topic of the Madeira elections, saying that “no matter how much they blackmail with political instability,” Chega “will never extend the hand of corruption,” referring to the PSD/Madeira leader, Miguel Albuquerque. And he accused the PS of being a “vulture” and trying to find an alternative to the regional government with the help of the AKP.
