Porto Metro to Propose to Government to Regulate TVDE Traffic on Its Territory

The Porto Metropolitan Authority (AMP) will propose to the government the regulation of individual passenger transport in unmarked vehicles (TVDE) on its territory, the president of the capital’s council, Eduardo Vitor Rodrigues, told reporters this Monday.

“We are going to propose that the TVDE contingents have regulation in the municipal context and articulation in the supra-municipal context,” the President of the Gaia Chamber said today, following a meeting of the Gaia Executive Director. .

Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez said the proposal will be put to a vote by AMP mayors at an extraordinary meeting this month with Infrastructure and Housing Minister Miguel Pinto Luz, with a time and date yet to be confirmed.

“There should be minimal regulation because they are multiplying. Then it is no longer just a multiplication of the number of TVDEs, but rather “quality,” says the leader of PAM in “recordings of people who work for hours on a car.” “, which often runs 24 hours a day, is operated by several subcontractors, as well as people with second and third jobs.

AMP’s proposal would also include environmental criteria, Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez responded to a question, but said that “this does not mean that they all have to be electric, but there could be a contingent that reduces diesel cars to a minimum.”

“What we are doing is an attempt, I hope, to contribute to making all this decent,” he said, recalling that TVDE drivers themselves have already spoken of the small income they receive from the work they do, in contrast to what happens with the digital platforms that provide the service.
