PS leader Antonio Costa spoke this Sunday at the rental site of the PS parliamentary days in Leiria, thanking the “excellent organization of the socialist academy”.
“I want to remember the victory of PS on January 30th because I want to remember the huge responsibility we have to the Portuguese,” said António Costa.
According to the party leader, the responsibility taken was “not only to govern, (…) to continue the work we started in 2015, but also to fulfill what we promised the Portuguese”.
“Although everything changed with the war, we did what we proposed,” António Costa stressed, noting that the party went “to the elections under the motto: together we follow and achieve.” Now PS’s “new motto” is “Together we follow and together we accomplish”.
The General Secretary of the PS also stated that he would never agree to question the sustainability of the social security system, even if he received a “hit” from the opposition, and stated that it was not possible to support a larger increase in pensions.
Regarding the fight against inflation, Costa emphasized that this is a central problem and that there is no vaccine against this phenomenon, given that measures must be taken with responsibility, common sense and nerves of steel.
