Traffic on the national road 233 (EN233) was restored at 20:40 after it was interrupted from 15:01 near Castelo Branco due to a collision between two cars, which killed one person and seriously injured one.
The EN233 highway was reopened to traffic at 8:40:57 pm after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed and the road was cleared, according to Lusa, a source at the GNR Castelo Branco Territorial Command. .
The road was cut after an accident involving a heavy truck and a passenger car, which killed a 58-year-old man and seriously injured a 52-year-old woman who was in the car.
According to Captain Rui Carvalho, the causes that led to the traffic accident are still unknown.
The seriously injured man was taken to the Amato Lusitano (HAL) hospital in Castelo Branco.
There were nine operators and four vehicles from the Castelo Branco Volunteer Firefighters, GNR and the Medical Ambulance and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) from HAL.
