Early Tuesday morning, PSP Ponte de Lima officers detained a 35-year-old man who was in possession of chocolates and drinks that he was trying to steal from a restaurant in the city center.
The robber, known as “Porco”, was released by the court but sent for psychiatric consultation to the Viana do Castelo hospital.
The attempted robbery occurred at 4:40 am. The thief, already known to the authorities, broke the glass in the restaurant to gain entry, and when the PSP patrol arrived on the scene, he tried to hide in the warehouse, already carrying chocolate and drinks that he intended to steal.
He was arrested, but despite several theft charges brought against him in recent months, he was eventually released by prosecutors without prior judicial questioning.
