Cesar Silva didn’t hold back. For the second day in a row, shortly after 6am, bread and cakes that a baker had just left outside his cafe in Lijo, Barcelos were stolen. So he went after them.
“I shouted out the window and asked if they were going to do this for the rest of their lives. And yet they took the cakes. So I chased them,” the owner of Café Arantes, who has been the target of dozens of similar thefts in recent months, told CM.
On Thursday morning, Cesar Silva chased the thieves about two kilometers to Arcoselo in the city of Barcelos. Along the way, he called PSP to report what was happening.
At the intersection, the thieves, two boys and a girl between the ages of 19 and 23, rammed the merchant’s car and, dissatisfied with the pursuit, tried to break the car’s windows and attack him. A few minutes later the PSP arrived and identified them.
For what CM As it turned out, this is a group that has recently been stealing bread and cakes, which they then resell at lower prices. PSP is investigating.
