Rede Expressos with new connections between the Algarve and several European cities

Rede Expressos will strengthen its international connections with the Algarve in the summer, with new regular flights starting in July between the cities of Rennes and Nantes (France), Brussels (Belgium) and Zurich (Switzerland), the company announced this Monday.

The bus company said in a statement that the new services would begin on July 2, citing that the Algarve “is a tourist region that generates large flows of people during the summer season.”

The new routes with departures and destinations in the Algarve will be operated three times a week in both directions: with Nantes, Zurich and Brussels during the day and Rennes at night, the company said.

According to Rede Expressos, it was decided to “maintain the promotional campaign for fares at €3.95 and allow all express ticket holders to also travel free of charge on the regional VAMUS network in order to improve local mobility during the holidays.”

“The Algarve is a region with a large influx of tourists during the summer, both locals and foreigners, so Rede Expressos decided […] to promote the mobility of all those destined for this region, with the involvement of our regional partner VAMUS Algarve,” says Carlos Oliveira, CEO of Rede Expressos, mentioned in the note.

Bus stops in the Algarve to reach these European cities cover the cities of Faro and Gago Coutinho Airport, Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira and Tavira.

Road passenger transport to Spain and France increased by more than 20% in March-May compared to the same period in 2023, the company said.

“Forecasts for the summer already indicate an increase in passenger numbers of more than 50%, and from June 17 the company will increase 39% of its international traffic,” the company’s statement concludes.
