A man invaded the Vatican in his car this Thursday night. According to Reuters, citing local authorities, the driver was eventually detained.
Security denied the man entry into the Vatican, and he maneuvered to pick up speed and pass through one of the gates. The warning was issued around 20:00 local time (19:00 Portugal time).
The police fired at the car while chasing the criminal, but this did not stop him from walking. According to Reuters, he was arrested as soon as he arrived at the central courtyard of the Apostolic Palace, where Pope Francis holds official meetings.
The man is in the Vatican prison, where he was examined by several doctors. The detainee, about 40 years old, was psychologically changed.
