A Spanish Air Force F-18 fighter jet crashed and exploded at the Zaragoza airbase this Saturday. The pilot managed to eject before the plane hit the ground.
The accident happened at 12:10 p.m. while the pilot was flying over a military base and performing demonstration maneuvers, according to Spanish authorities quoted by the newspaper. World.
The pilot, who had flown more than 1,000 hours, suffered leg injuries. Despite this, the man is conscious and his life is not in danger, according to the Spanish military via Twitter.
Some of the aircraft’s wreckage landed outside the Air Force fence. The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
