Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates envisions an artificial intelligence (AI) application in the near future that will completely change user behavior and replace currently popular tools such as search engines or online stores.
According to the billionaire, this artificial assistant, which has not yet been developed, will be able to understand human needs and habits, as well as put an end to the use of the Internet as we know it.
Tech giants such as Google with Bard, Microsoft with Bing, and startups like OpenAI with ChatGPT are vying for the lead in building the best AI-powered generative tool.
“We will never go to a research site again, we will never go to a productivity site or Amazon again,” Bill Gates said at the Goldman Sachs and SV Angel San Francisco AI event.
Therefore, “the most important thing is who will have a personal agent,” he added.
As to which company would build the assistant, Gates said he would be disappointed if Microsoft didn’t “step in.”
The Microsoft co-founder also stressed that he is “impressed” by some “startups”, including Inflection.AI, co-founded by former DeepMind CEO Mustafa Suleiman.
