French far-right leader Marine Le Pen denied any “Russian tropism” in the National Assembly this Wednesday, ensuring that she would never sign the loan her party made in Russia if it involved any political partner.
“If I had taken on any obligations, I would not have signed” a loan of 9.4 million euros taken in 2014 from a Czech-Russian bank, which is still in the process of repayment, Marine Le Pen assured.
“I signed a loan with a bank, I didn’t sign a loan with Vladimir Putin,” the Russian president told a losing candidate in the second round of presidential elections against Emmanuel Macron in 2017 and 2022 during a four-hour hearing before a parliamentary committee investigating foreign interference.
