Additional route (IC) 8 traffic has been suspended in Avelar, Ancien municipality, due to a collision between two heavy vehicles, Civil Protection and National Republican Guard (GNR) sources told Lusa this Thursday.
According to a source from the Leiria region’s sub-regional emergency and civil protection department, one of the vehicles “overturned and blocked traffic in both directions.”
The accident, reported to authorities at 2:21 p.m., occurred at kilometer 69.8, near Avelar, resulting in minor injuries taken to hospital and two people treated on the spot.
A GNR source clarified that “one of the trucks crossed the road” at the Avelar junction and there were no forecasts for the road to open at 16:00.
