A US military veteran and member of the far-right Oath Keepers was sentenced this Friday to eight and a half years in prison for conspiring to keep former President Donald Trump in power.
The sentencing of Jessica Watkins comes a day after the conviction of two other members of the Oath Keepers, founder Stuart Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, who are to serve 18 and 12 years in prison, respectively, for participating in the invasion of the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to the American press, after reading the verdict, Judge Amit Mehta noted that Watkins participated in the conspiracy “more aggressively” than the other participants, and directed the attack of others.
