Mozambican police have detained two men who posed as agents of a corporation and demanded unimpeded admission to the basic course of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRP) in Nampula, in the north of the country.
The men, aged 24 and 27, were arrested on Thursday in the Central District for “using false qualities and deceit,” Zacarias Nakute, a PRM spokesman in Nampula, told Lusa on Tuesday.
The detainees posed as members of the National Criminal Investigation Service (Sernik) and the Public Protection Police.
According to Zakarias Nakute, the detention took place after a complaint from one of the victims.
“They went to the police with a statement when they realized the delay in responding confirming their entry into the PfP,” the representative concluded.
On Friday, May 26, the closing ceremony of the 43rd basic course of the police of the Republic of Mozambique took place, the last one before a three-year break, during which the guardianship promises investments in infrastructure and equipment.
On this occasion, the General Commander of the PRM, Bernardino Rafael, warned against this corrupt practice in order to facilitate entry into the police force.
