Distribution of intimate content without consent will be sentenced to five years in prison. According to Jornal de Notícias, operators Internet are required to report to the Department of State (MOD) if they find such images, as well as child pornography, and are also required to block the platforms for 48 hours.
The fine can also be increased in the case of blackmail, where the disclosing person demands a monetary reward, or for those who profit from the exposure.
The amendment to the penal code was published on Tuesday in Diário da República and “rand strengthens the protection of victims of crimes involving the dissemination of intimate content without consent.”
