The Judicial Police (SP) have arrested the alleged “leader” of a group that threatened to steal barrels of beer and other drinks from trucks delivering to shops along the Porto River.
The joint venture said in a statement that the alleged thefts have occurred continuously from June 2022 to the present, with thousands of euros worth of goods stolen.
The stolen beer and drinks were later sold in bars in the tourist area, he said.
The Judicial Panel indicated that the 52-year-old detainee is accused of being the “leader” of this group, consisting mainly of minors, who, through threats, provoked “an atmosphere of intense intimidation and fear” to steal barrels of beer and other drinks from trucks. who delivered such an order to retail establishments in this area of Porto.
The suspect faces strict charges of aggravated robbery and aggravated theft, he said.
The detainee, a street vendor cited by police for several crimes, will attend the first court hearing.
