The eastern group islands (Sao Miguel and Santa Maria) are under an orange warning, the second highest on the scale, from 21:00 local time (22:00 in Lisbon) on Monday and 09:00 on Tuesday due to rainfall forecast sometimes strong, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
From 09:00 to 21:00 on Monday and from 09:00 on Tuesday to 06:00 on Wednesday, the two islands are under a yellow warning, including due to the forecast of rain and thunderstorms.
For the islands of the central group (Terceira, Sao Jorge, Graciosa, Pico and Faial), a yellow warning was issued from 06:00 Tuesday to 00:00 Wednesday due to the possibility of heavy precipitation that may be accompanied by thunderstorms.
These five islands are also under a yellow warning due to a northeasterly wind forecast from Tuesday 09:00 to Wednesday 00:00.
According to the IPMA, an orange alert, the second highest on the scale, is issued for “moderate to high risk weather conditions.”
A yellow warning, the third highest on the scale, is issued for “risk situations for certain weather dependent actions”.
