The President of the European Council said on Tuesday that he would propose to the leaders of the European Union (EU) to increase assistance to Ukraine for the “unprecedented attack” on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, accusing Russia of committing a war crime.
“I am shocked by the unprecedented attack on the Novokakhovskaya dam. The destruction of civilian infrastructure is unequivocally qualified as a war crime, and we will hold Russia and its representatives accountable, ”Charles Michel emphasized in a post on the social network Twitter.
Indicating that he would take up the matter at the EU Heads of Government and State Summit later this month, the President of the European Council added that he would also “offer great assistance to the flooded areas.”
