The CIA reported that the Ukrainian special forces wanted to blow up the Nord Stream cattle pipeline

A news agency in a European country warned the CIA in June 2022 that Ukrainian special forces were planning to blow up the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The daily newspaper cites information from several secret documents posted online by a young American soldier, Jack Teixeira, before the leak was discovered and the suspect arrested in mid-April.

The documents indicate that the intelligence service of an unidentified European country told the CIA four months after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine that military divers reporting directly to the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were planning this attack on Nord Stream.

The Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, designed to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany, were hit by underwater explosions on September 26 and failed, potentially depriving Moscow of billions of dollars in revenue.

Several countries, including Russia, Ukraine and the US, have been accused of being responsible, but all have denied the fact.

The US, having been warned of the alleged planned attack, warned its allies, including Germany, according to the Washington Post.

According to the European news agency that provided the information, General Valery Zaluzhny led the operation without the knowledge of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Washington Post revelations are consistent with information from German investigators that a group of six men with fake passports rented a sailboat from the port of Rostock, Germany, to carry out the operation.

The Polish company that leased the yacht actually belonged to the Ukrainians.

However, the Danish press recently reported that shortly before the explosions, a Russian warship specializing in underwater operations was photographed near the sabotage zone.
