Mexican authorities confirmed on Tuesday the deaths of four young people, drug cartel call center workers, whose remains were found in 45 plastic bags last week.
A statement from the government of the state of Jalisco in western Mexico said that a forensic examination confirmed the identity of the remains found at the bottom of a 40-meter-deep ravine in Zapopan, a suburb of the city of Guadalajara.
A US police officer told the Associated Press news agency that the youths disappeared in late May, apparently after trying to leave a “call center” run by the Jalisco New Generation cartel, considered Mexico’s most violent cartel.
