According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), twelve areas on the mainland are under a yellow warning this Friday due to the forecast for showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms.
The areas of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real, Bragança, Aveiro, Viseu, Guarda, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém and Castelo Branco will be under yellow warning until 3pm this Friday.
A yellow warning is issued whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather dependent activities.
IPMA predicts very cloudy skies for the continent as a whole this Friday, with temporary good light from mid-afternoon, and light to moderate winds, sometimes strong on the coastal strip north of Cabo Raso until early morning and high on land.
The forecast also indicates periods of rain or showers, which in the northern and central regions can be locally heavy and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms before noon, with a higher probability until early morning.
Also, temporary haze or fog is expected in places and a slight decrease in maximum temperature in the northern and central regions.
Minimum temperatures will range from 12 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) to 18 (in Faro and Aveiro), while maximum temperatures will range from 18 (in Guarda) to 26 (in Evora and Beja).
