Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in Kyiv this Saturday on an unannounced visit due to security concerns, according to the portal Ukrinform, which represents the image of the politician in the Ukrainian capital.
Trudeau is on a visit accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Christia Freeland, according to the same source, who recalls Canada’s strong support for Ukraine following the Russian invasion, both economically and in arms.
The visit of the Canadian delegation comes at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is redoubling his efforts to mitigate the consequences of flooding caused by the Kakhovka dam failure, and when Kiev has yet to confirm whether it launched a counteroffensive to retake the occupied territory.
