A family in Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America, was reunited with their missing daughter 51 years ago after she was abducted as a baby. This was only made possible by a DNA match, the family announced this Sunday.

Melissa Highsmith was abducted when she was only 22 months old in 1971 by a woman who, according to publications the family has published over the years, was allegedly hired to care for her. After the kidnapping, the child was renamed Melanie, and she too lived in Fort Worth for a long time, not even knowing that her biological family was looking for her, according to information released by CNN International🇧🇷
The young woman had no idea what had happened to her until her biological relatives contacted her via Facebook. At the first approach, the girl thought it was a scam. According to the missing woman, “my father contacted me at messenger and told me that he was looking for his daughter for 51 years.
This Saturday, the family met with Melissa for the first time and had official and legal DNA tests done.
