A man was brutally attacked in a cafe in Braga on Saturday afternoon. The victim, a Brazilian citizen, was punched and kicked several times and had to be hospitalized.
Saulo Huca was interrogated by a man who seemed to change when he was inside the establishment.
“He asked me if I was Brazilian and I said I was very proud,” he explained. cm. “From there, he started punching me in the face as if he wanted to kill me. I have no doubt that it was attempted murder.”
The victim believes that the aggressor acted out of xenophobia. “The only thing I told him was that he is Brazilian but also has Portuguese citizenship. I don’t think he heard that part,” he claims.
“I have never faced such a situation before. I have been living in Portugal for two years now and I get along very well with the Portuguese community. All the people I know and know about what happened are outraged. The Brazilian community is also outraged,” Saulo said.
The man has filed a complaint with the PSP in Braga and is waiting for the intervention of the authorities. “I hope they arrest him as soon as possible,” he said.
