A 30-year-old man was arrested after he threw a flammable object and set fire to another 34-year-old man in the village of Caniçal, Madeira. The detainee was charged with attempted murder, as the victim received severe burns to a significant part of her body and her life was in danger.
According to a statement from the Judicial Police (SP), the facts occurred on Tuesday and were motivated by a misunderstanding between two men who were under the influence of drugs.
After some investigations, the SP was able to identify the aggressor and arrest him.
“The detainee will be presented to the competent judicial authorities for the application of such coercive measures as deemed appropriate,” the government source said in a communiqué.
