Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson deliberately misled Parliament about parties being held during the Covid-19 lockdown. This is the information received after a year-long investigation of the “Partygate” case, promotes AP news.
The report of the Committee on Privileges of the House of Commons concluded that the actions of the former Prime Minister constituted a serious violation, which served as the basis for his suspension from Parliament for 90 days.
It should be noted that this recommendation is purely symbolic, as last Friday Boris Johnson resigned from his post in the British Parliament. The politician accused the commission of trying to remove him by force and said that his departure was connected with this factor.
The Partygate scandal involves several parties between 2020 and 2022 when Covid-19 restrictions prevented those gatherings.
The House of Commons will now debate the committee’s report and decide whether it agrees with the committee’s findings and the recommended sanctions.
