Pope Francis left the Gemelli Hospital, where he was admitted this Friday, nine days after undergoing surgery for a hernia in the abdomen.
The 86-year-old leader of the Catholic Church rode out of the hospital in a wheelchair, waving to reporters and thanking the waiting crowd.
“Dad is fine. He is in better shape than before, ”Sergio Alfieri, the chief surgeon who operated on the pontiff on June 7, said Reuters.
On June 7, the priest underwent a three-hour abdominal operation under general anesthesia to repair a hernia and remove painful scars, which went without complications.
