A chain collision that took place this Friday in Madeira involving six vehicles on the expressway between Santa Cruz and Funchal resulted in five minor injuries, including a child, according to a fire department source.
The victims were two women, aged 24 and 28, who were imprisoned and then taken to the hospital. Nelio Mendonza, in Funchal, volunteer firefighters from Madeira, a corporate source told Lusa.
Transportation of the child and mother was the responsibility of the Funchal Sapadores firefighters, while no source in the corporation indicated the age.
The Camara de Lobos Volunteer Corporation transported a 58-year-old man “with complaints on his shoulder”.
“Complaints are normal for this type of incident, mostly at the level of the spine and limbs, but not serious,” the same source said.
Via Litoral, the concessionaire for this road, and the Public Security Police (PSP) were also on site.
