A GNR operation to execute a search warrant in Bairro de Santo António in Serte ended in a vicious raid, apparently on the wrong house. The situation happened at 6:00 am on Wednesday, and the resident filed a complaint against the military.
“I was in the kitchen when the front door was broken into. Several GNR soldiers dressed in black and wearing hoods came in with weapons pointed at me, grabbed me and threw me to the ground,” Jefferson Oliveira, 36, describes. “While I was handcuffed, I was still lying on the floor, I was screaming that I hadn’t done anything and asking why I was being arrested. In response, I received a slap in the face and a kick in the back. Then they let me go,” accuses a Brazilian man who has lived in Serta for five years. Works in the timber industry. At home, Jefferson’s partner and younger daughter slept. “I woke up with three guns pointed at my face,” says Chirley Alves, 24.
TO cmThe GNR High Command said that “the situation is under investigation” in connection with the raid on Jefferson’s home.
