This Sunday, the Catalan police tweeted a video showing a new method of robbery being practiced on the Barcelona Metro in Spain.
The video shows two men stealing the belongings of two passengers who were on the subway platform. The criminals first identify the victim, and then one of them spits on the head unnoticed by the person and offers to clean it. While helping the passenger, another accomplice steals the items the victim left on the ground.
“Beware of distractions of any kind on public transport, on the street, or anywhere else. Always keep your belongings under control,” emphasizes the Catalan police in a publication accompanied by the hashtag #PararFurtos.
A new form of theft, which involves spitting on people’s heads, occurs when tourists are waiting for the subway to arrive, and also when they try to buy tickets from vending machines.
