The family of Hamish Harding, the British billionaire who was on board the missing submarine, accused OceanGate of raising the alarm “too long”. Robert Evan, the billionaire’s godson, said the family was first informed of the missing submarine on Sunday evening.
“The fact that the submarine lost contact, I learned from family members who were in contact with them. [OceanGate] more or less when i went to bed [por volta das 23 horas]says the godson.
According to The Mirror, the U.S. Coast Guard reported the submarine missing at 5:40 p.m. Sunday, eight hours after the boat lost contact.
This Thursday, the wreckage was discovered by a remote-controlled vehicle on the seabed near the Titanic. The discovery came hours after it was estimated that oxygen supplies would have been depleted.
The US Coast Guard has confirmed that the wreckage found in the Titanic wreckage area is consistent with the exterior of the submarine with five passengers missing on Sunday, which would have undergone a “catastrophic explosion” leaving no one alive.
