According to the Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflicts (OVCS), between January and May 2023, Venezuelans held 3,900 protests, an average of 26 per day, mostly in defense of economic, social, cultural and environmental rights.
“Venezuelans demand their rights every day on the streets of the country. In the first five months of this year, OVCS documented 3,900 citizen demonstrations. This is important data for understanding the situation in Venezuela,” the OVCS representative explained.
Marco Ponce spoke at a virtual forum organized by Amnesty International, during which he specified that “86% of mobilizations are related to the demand for economic, social, cultural and environmental rights.”
