A PSP agent from Lagos rescued a 15-day-old baby this Thursday who was not breathing and showed no signs of life. The officer on duty began basic support maneuvers and managed to revive the child at the PSP police station.
According to Faro’s PSP command, Agent Silva helped a “mother in distress” who went to the police station to ask for help for her newborn daughter, who was “not breathing and showing no vital signs.” The child suffocated while breastfeeding, the mother got scared and took her to the PSP police station.
The policeman “took the child in his arms” and “started elementary support maneuvers”, while asking his colleague to activate the aids.
Approximately two minutes after initiating the so-called Heimlich maneuver, specially trained to act in cases involving infants, the police officer “succeeded in clearing the child’s airway, who reacted and began to cry.”
A group of firefighters from Lagos arrived at the PSP police station a few minutes later and treated the child, who was then taken to Portimão hospital, where he is safe.
