An official source said on Wednesday that a teacher from SOS Children’s Villages in Mozambique was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old in the southern city of Inhambane.
The 43-year-old caretaker reportedly invited the teen to her home, saying she needed help around the house.
“At the residence, she invited the child to the bathroom, saying that she wanted to teach him how to use a condom, there she persuaded the child, and then had sex with her,” said Pompilio Xavier.
According to the responsible person, the case occurred between March and April, but was discovered by a social worker only in June.
According to local press reports, in addition to being accused of raping a teenager, the guardian is suspected of forcing the victim to have sexual relations with other teenagers from the same kindergarten.
“We, the State Ministry, facilitated the capture and preventive detention of the woman, and now we expect the process to go faster,” said Pompilio Xavier.
