Matosinhos’s chamber was searched by inspectors from the Porto Judicial Police this Thursday following anonymous complaints.
The actions of officials suspected of corruption crimes are at stake, but so far the authorities are only trying to confirm the veracity of the complaint.
The municipality of Matosinhos has cooperated with the Judicial Police in “public procurement processes,” a source in the municipality said.
A statement from the Câmara de Matosinhos in the Porto area said that inspectors from PJ had been on the premises of the municipality since the early morning to “familiarize themselves with documentation relating to public procurement processes” related to the departments of Works and Heritage.
“The City Council of Matosinhos takes such a procedure for granted by the judiciary and cooperates with the inspectors of the judicial police in all their requests,” the municipality, led by socialist Luisa Salgueiro, guarantees.
