In León, Spain, a man is on trial for pretending to be “God” to swindle an elderly woman out of 300,000 euros. The crimes were committed between 2013 and 2019, according to the Spanish TV channel. Telesinco.
Esperanza Milagros, who suffered from mental disorders, even asked for two loans to pay off the alleged “God”. The man told the victim that the money would go to an account in Paradise and that with the donations they would be able to build a house in Paradise.
In 2013, the woman was convinced that she had become a saint, and therefore the defendant’s lie seemed convincing.
The case ended with the arrest of this man only when the children of Esperanza realized that their mother had no money. In the end, the elderly woman confessed what had happened.
The man denied all charges.
