The UN Secretary General condemned Saturday’s airstrike in Omdurman, Sudan, which killed 22 people, lamenting the “absolute disregard” for human rights.
“There is an absolute disregard for humanitarian law and human rights, which is dangerous and disturbing,” he lamented.
António Guterres said he was “shocked” by the escalation of violence and casualties in Sudan’s Darfur region, as well as the escalation of clashes in North Kordofan, South Kordofan and Blue Nile.
At least 22 people have been killed and many injured in an airstrike by the Sudanese army on the western city of Omdurman, Khartoum’s health ministry said on Saturday, according to Reuters, as the war between the country’s armed forces enters its 12th week.
