Former US women’s gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar was stabbed multiple times during an altercation at a federal prison in Florida, US, but is in stable condition, the AP reported on Monday. This Sunday, Nasr was stabbed in the back and chest.
“The intervention team immediately took action to provide relief,” Cabinet spokesman Benjamin O’Kone said in a statement. The prisoner was taken to a local hospital.
O’Kone added that the FBI had been notified of the incident and had launched an internal investigation. Other employees and prisoners were not injured.
In 2018, he was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting young American gymnasts.
