The President of Ukraine made a surprise appearance on Tuesday to address thousands of people in Vilnius’ largest square shortly after arriving in Lithuania for the NATO summit.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke in Ukrainian after the press conference of Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), at which it was announced that Ukraine’s accession has no foreseen time frame and will only take place with the consent of all member states and subject to the fulfillment of conditions.
Zelenskiy appeared, accompanied by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, and was applauded by the crowd, which, between the flags on its back or in the wind, “painted” the square with the blue and yellow colors of the Ukrainian flag.
