Members of the Atlantic Alliance approved on Tuesday a “new generation” of regional defense plans and a stronger presence on the eastern flank, strengthening NATO’s ability to support “any threatened ally.”
In a communiqué from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit, which runs until Wednesday in Vilnius, Lithuania, the 31 members of the Atlantic Alliance agreed on “significant measures to further improve NATO’s deterrence and defense in all areas, including strengthening forward defense and the Alliance’s ability to quickly strengthen any ally, endangered.”
“We will fully implement these measures and deprive any potential adversary of the opportunity for aggression,” the document says.
