Japan announced Wednesday it is deploying drone detection systems in Ukraine to help the country bolster its defenses against invading Russian forces.
This was stated by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the NATO summit, which ended this Wednesday in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
Recalling the importance of not changing the “status quo” through the use of force, the head of the Japanese government promised that his country would expand cooperation with other countries to “maintain and strengthen an open and free international order.”
Fumio Kishida also said that security issues in Europe and the Indo-Pacific are inseparable and expressed his determination to work towards “strengthening the relationship between NATO and partner countries” such as Australia, South Korea and New Zealand.
The Japanese leader visited Ukraine last March and announced nearly 30 million euros in non-lethal materials through a fund set up by NATO, the same one that Tokyo will now use to send drone detection systems.
