UN humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine Denise Brown expressed her horror at the Russian attacks on the Odessa port, saying they must stop immediately, the organization said in a statement.
“I am horrified by the footage of yesterday’s attacks [terça-feira] Russian troops to the port of Odesa,” the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator in Ukraine said in a note published on Wednesday.
According to a UN spokesman, Tuesday “was the second day in a row that this civilian port, vital to Ukraine and the world’s poorest people dependent on Ukrainian grain, was severely damaged in massive attacks.”
“This is inhuman and contrary to international humanitarian law. Attacks on civilian infrastructure must stop immediately,” said Denise Brown.
On Wednesday night, Russia also launched strikes in the Odessa and Mykolaiv regions (south) of Ukraine, firing a total of 19 cruise missiles at “ports, docks, residences and businesses,” the Russian Air Force said on Thursday.Ukraine.
This is the third consecutive night that Russia has attacked port facilities in southern Ukraine after Moscow announced on Monday it was suspending a grain export agreement under which it pledged to allow Ukrainian grain to be shipped across the Black Sea and not to attack infrastructure related to agricultural production and export.
