EasyJet said this afternoon that participation in the flight attendants’ strike around 5:00 pm was 44%, while the union reported about 90%.
Speaking to Lusa, the president of the National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SNPVAC), Ricardo Penarroyas, indicated that on the third day of the strike, until about 5:00 p.m., the crew was “very close to 90%.
According to Ricardo Penarroyas, “82 flights were canceled” and the union “fulfilled the required minimum service”.
According to the president of SNPVAC, who said the latter was operated “through crew members from the Faro base”, apart from the minimum service, no flights departed from Porto and one flight operated from Faro and one from Lisbon.
“It’s against the law, and we even asked the ACT to find out what happened.”
In a statement sent to Lusa, EasyJet indicated that on the third day of the crew strike in Lisbon, Porto and Faro, the number of members “was 44% at the moment.”
According to the air carrier, “95% of flights were completed”, as a total of 132,126 flights were performed.
“EasyJet has adjusted its capabilities to protect passengers, but the crew that was supposed to be on duty needs to be on duty,” he says.
On Saturday, EasyJet said participation in the flight attendants’ strike around 6 p.m. was 50%, while the union estimated it was around 90%.
EasyJet flight attendants began a strike on Friday that will last until Tuesday, demanding conditions similar to those at the carrier’s bases in other countries.
