The Foreigners and Border Guards Service (SEF) detained a foreign woman arriving on a flight from Bissau at Lisbon airport this Saturday on suspicion of human trafficking, facilitating illegal migration and using someone else’s travel document, the SEF said in a statement. The woman was traveling with 11 children and claimed to be the mother of one of them.
According to the same source, the detainee “provided to the border authorities a document belonging to her real daughter, with whom she had a physiognomic resemblance.”
10 children were handed over to relatives who were in the country, and one more was sent to an orphanage. Two travel documents and a boarding pass were also confiscated, as well as permission to travel abroad.
The woman will be present this Monday at the competent judicial authority for the first judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
