The President of Peru, Pedro Castillo, announced this Wednesday the dissolution of parliament, a few hours before the meeting to discuss the “impeachment” of the head of state and announced the creation of an “emergency government.”
In a message to the nation from the presidential palace, Castillo announced that he had decided to “temporarily dissolve the Congress of the Republic and establish an emergency government,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
Until the constitution of the new parliament, “the government will be governed by decree-law,” the left-wing head of state added, also announcing “a mandatory curfew starting today.” [quarta-feira]”, from 22:00 to 04:00 throughout the country.
