North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered an increase in missile production, state media reported on Monday, days before South Korea and the United States begin their annual military drills.
North Korea’s state news agency KCNA reported that Kim Jong-un gave the order Friday and Saturday during an inspection tour of the country’s main factories producing tactical missiles, mobile launchers, armored vehicles and artillery shells.
During the shutdown at the missile plant, Kim set a goal to “drastically increase” production capacity so that the plant could mass-produce missiles and meet the needs of frontline military units, KCNA said.
