Francine Armengol, The PSOE candidate was elected President of the Congress by an absolute majority. The Socialist, with 178 votes, received the support of the PSOE and Somar (far left), two parties that want to form a government coalition, as well as five other regional, nationalist and independent forces.
This Thursday, the PSOE reached an agreement with Carles Puigdemont’s Together for Catalonia party, guaranteeing its support in exchange for promoting official languages in Congress and investigating espionage by supporters of Catalan independence.
Cuca Gamarra, the PP candidate, received 139 votes after the PP on Thursday decided not to allocate any seat on the Vox bureau, so the far right voted for their candidate, Ignacio Gil Lazaro, who received 33 votes.
