Vox leader said he would support the People’s Party (PP) taking office if the Alberto-led party Nunez Feihoo does not support any “sanitary cord” of the extreme right.
After an audience with King Philip VI, in statements quoted by the newspaper a countrySantiago Abascal asked the NP “not to cooperate by action or inaction with the cordon sanitaire.”
The leader of the extreme right party considers it necessary “the obligation to put an end to the claims of certain minorities to impose apartheid three million Spaniards” who voted for Vox.
Pedro Sanchez, Spain’s prime minister, downplayed the Vox statement, believing that the PSOE was “in a position to garner parliamentary support to form a government.”
“There is only one possible parliamentary majority, a progressive majority led by the Socialist Party. There is no alternative but to re-edit a government of progress that consolidates the gains of these four years,” Sanchez assured.
The PSOE became the second most voted party in the Spanish elections by electing 122 deputies, for the PP – 136, but he seeks to enlist the support of regionalists, nationalists and independent forces.
