The Kremlin said on Friday that allegations that Wagner mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was involved in the crash were “an absolute lie” and declined to definitively confirm his death, saying it would be necessary to wait for test results, Reuters reported.
“All this is an absolute lie, and here, covering this case, it is necessary to rely on facts. There are not so many facts yet. They must be established in the course of investigative actions,” the Kremlin spokesman said. Dmitry Peskov.
Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to Prigozhin’s family on Thursday, breaking his silence after the mercenary leader’s plane crashed on Wednesday evening.
Russian investigators have launched an investigation into the incident. The identities of the ten bodies recovered from the rubble have not yet been officially confirmed.
